The old Chinese compressor has finely been retired after 10 years of service. as a quick calculation it has been estimated this has pumped the equivalent of $75,000 to $85,000 worth of co2 (if we had to buy co2 in.) the nzhpa system was first developed for NZ between us and 2 other fields in 2009. at the time many operators laughed at us saying it would never work, never catch on. but these have proven to be the gold standard and all of them are no longer in business . the old Co2 systems as well as being dogged with environmental, supply and performance issues also really only have a lifespan of 3 years when in commercial use as they were only ever a domestic product made to be sold at sports shops to be used a few times and dumped like the average toy. this hpa system in 15 years is now on its 3 compressor and 5th set of orings (a co2 system would need new orings monthly ) with many of the remaining parts being the originals from 2009 and having a good 70% life left .
there are currently 14 commercial hpa systems operating in NZ with 1 in whangarei and 1 in the far north. while there are many operations that open up using co2 gear there is only 2 still operating from 2010.
yes the old compressor still runs and no its not for sale/ you cant have it.
also a few things to note: we havnt had a land line phone since 2019. if you see one listed on the web the people listing it have nothing to do with us. all of our booking is done via online booking on our website

2023 update on schools, youth groups etc / paintball, archery but not clay shooting. due to the actions of worksafe school type groups have now been moved from restricted to high risk-banned . this is due to a leak outlining worksafes intentions if a school group was to come to harm. it was outlined that schools are difficult to hold to account (fine) and clearly participant contribution/ fault doesn't come into it so where there is a private operator involved worksafe should pursue them instead/aswell (look at the comments in the media from the lawyer about WBHS and TAS).
case in point with details removed: a school takes a class on a trip. one of the teachers promises one of the challenging kids "behave for the ### and you can go " even though the teacher knows there could be a problem on the day. on the day the operator tells the kids not to do x which the kid duly does as soon as eyes are off them and harm is caused. the school gets no fine and the operator spends 100k defending themselves. where the past has dictated that if it were a private group "you were told not to " almost always comes into play and worksave walks away. x could be something as simple as lifting their mask in paintball which they are responsible for keeping on and for which if you removed in say a workshop worksafe themselves would have a go at you .
so while you may still find operators willing to take the risk (or more likely not up with the play)we have decided not to allow school type groups to participate in any activity where the participant is required to manage the risk of serious harm without "direct" supervision . this includes paintball and archery but not clayshooting. school/not for profit type group is any group where the participants are minors and the organizers are not the parents or parent type group.
