Indoor Bowls brings visitors from far and wide – April 7 to 10
The Castlecliff Club is hosting the North Island Indoor Bowls tournament for Clubs NZ on Friday to Monday, April 7 to 10.
Organiser Sue Hackett says “21 clubs from as far afield as Whangarei down to Upper Hutt will be participating with 172 players.”
Friday night will be for registrations and on Saturday, it will be pairs, on Sunday, the triples and on Monday, the fours.
Sue says, “Club NZ encourages all clubs to host events and as we hosted it last in 2015, we offered to do it again.” The 172 is more than the numbers who came in 2015. “Whanganui is always popular, quite central and the Jubilee Stadium is one of the nicer places in New Zealand for indoor bowls.”
The hosting is done by the Castlecliff Club indoor bowls adjunct. “We have 20 very supportive members and are a friendly bunch,” says Sue.
The last 16 qualifying transfer to the club to play there. Each night will be prize giving, again, at the Club after 6pm.
The numbers will of course be boosted by friends and families as well as those who want to watch. Sue herself will be playing.
