Teaching kids isnt always sunshine rainbows and lollipops.... especially in the depths of winter. 🌈🍭❄️

Winter was hitting my Thursday Young Creators HARD this week. Their little creative batteries were well and truely flat. 🔋🎨

"I'm tiiired", "I don't want to do this", "I don't want to cut with THESE scissors" "I can't find any green" "My glue is too sticky" 🤯

Add in some sniffling, coughing, and general is-it-the-holidays-yet energy, and I had a room full of little people ready for the weekend.

🥰And you know what? Thats OK. A safe creative space also means being allowed to have an off day. Not every week needs to produce a masterpiece. Sometimes creative batteries just need recharging🔋

Primary school teachers - HATS OFF TO YOU. 👒👏 There is clearly some vital ingredient you possess (or perhaps you're missing entirely🤣) that enables you to do this 6 hours a day, 5 days a week. 🍷🍷

My 1 hour today had me declaring it a "TRASH & DASH"

One of the biggest joys the space ive made available for my Young Creators groups brings is watching the kids relax into the environment. 🥰
This term there's a new class running. My Wednesday group. The first couple of weeks were really quiet, its been so cool to see each week these kids becoming more confident and relaxed in the studio space. They now rival my Monday class for volume, each child bringing their songs, humming and chattering away and openly just being themselves. I love it! ✨️💜

✨️ Art is a wonderful outlet for kids - a chance to explore their world, try new things, and express themselves. 🎨

🥰 New things and new environments can sometimes feel a bit overwhelming, so making sure my Young Creators feel safe and secure is really important to me.

Parents are always welcome to stay until their child feels confident enough to go it alone (and beyond). Art is also a wonderful outlet for mums and dad's! And truth be told - I love watching the interactions between parent and child as they create together - not just art - but core memories too. 💜✨️

🥰Some of my adult class participants sent me these photos of their recently completed glass mosiac mandalas in their homes. The way the light hits them is just a bit of magic! Thanks ladies, you all did a fab job, looking forward to seeing what new ideas you bring to the studio with you next week!

💜✨️If you'd like to take some time out from the daily grind and spend it relaxing amd creating an art piece of your own there is still space in the Tuesday evening sessions. These are a pay as you go set up. You decide what you're going to make, pay for materials up front, then its $20 a session until you finish your project. Then you can start another! Sick kids? Job commitments? Cant make it? No worries. Just come along again when it fits. Perfectly structured for busy women who's life commitments can make it difficult to get in some time out. ✨️💜

New Workshop! As part of this year's Winter Wonderfest Whanganui Im running several workshops.

💜✨️❄️Fused Glass Mandala Workshop. Held over 3 classes you'll create your own beautiful glass mandala that will then be fused in the kiln.
Course will run Tuesday evenings the 11th, 18th and 25th August from 7pm-9pm. Only 6 spaces available. Cost is $210 per person. Bookings essential.

This year im running three events.

❄️The first will be held over the space of 3 evening workshops to create a fused glass mandala.

🌟The second will be an afternoon workshop to make your own copperfoil stained glass star.

💐And the third will be an afternoon session to make your own fused glass garden.

Mondays! 😍 Another week begins, and of the Young Creators, the Monday class is the biggest group. ✨️Today we worked with my personal favourite and chosen artistic medium - glass. These clever kids assembled multiple miniature glass panels to be turned into something magical once they have all been fired - so watch this space and see their finished results! ❤️‍🔥
