Last night I went to see Amdram's Phantom of the Opera at the Royal Whanganui Opera House and came away feeling so proud of Whanganui’s local theatre community for delivering such a high quality, and striking tribute to Andrew Lloyd Webber’s masterpiece.

I’m particularly proud of my old flatmate and good friend Maika Montgomery for her moving portrayal of Christine Daaé 🙌🏼

I know how much hard work has gone into pulling this show off over two years of COVID-related delays and other challenges. The final result delivers a captivating mix of dark, menacing storytelling, a pinch of hilarity and with the stage-craft contributing a few surprises for the audience too. Congratulations to everyone involved - incredible!
