Check this out Westport! Our friends from Taki Rua are performing their show Te Kuia me te Pūngāwerewere at the Sue Thompson Casey Memorial Library on November 7th at 9.30am and 10.30am!!

This is a highly engaging 30min piece of theatre in Te Reo Māori specifically for tamariki and their whānau. Inspired by the beloved children’s book The Kuia and the Spider by Patricia Grace this piece is suitable for young children of all backgrounds.

Script reading and auditions 27th April 2pm at the NBS Theatre!! Excited to re-stage this brilliant local one act play!!

We’re looking for the following:

Mary - an attractive Irish girl in her late teens early twenties, works as a dancing girls at the European Hotel.

Joe - Her beau, a stable hand, witty and ambitious

Lizzie - Mary’s best friend and co-worker, somewhat of a flirt and very assured of herself, a fun loving character

Mr Morris - a surly Charleston businessman, widowed, drinks too much, feels the whole world owes him a better deal.

Annie - a young girl about 14 or 15yrs, daughter of Mr Morris.

Mr Craddock - Joe’s employer, kindly but indebted to Mr Morris

Amelia & Sally - other dancing girl from the European Hotel.

3 or 4 “gentlemen” that mill around outside the hotel.

We are holding auditions for our one act play entry to this years TheatreFest this Sunday 7pm at the NBS Theatre!

GPS - An Auto Erotic Comedy
written by Bruce Kane

The sexy and suggestive computer voice of a high tech automobile becomes jealous of the new owner's girlfriend and threatens to destroy his life in this modern and very timely one act script. Imagine Siri run amock.

We're looking for:
Dave (male) - proud owner of a brand new car. You'll need to "own" the stage with lots of strong physical and vocal comedy for this role. Dave is the only actor on stage.
Hallie (female) - the voice of Dave's new car's computer. Can you master a sexy Siri tone with a bit of added personality? Comic timing will be everything.
Phone (either-either) - the voice of Dave's phone. Maybe a little depressed and neurotic? Plenty of room for your own spin.

We're also looking for help with set design and construction, costume and even direction.

Huge congratulations to the cast of The Denniston Rose! Best Ensemble and Best Overall Production! Special mention to Terry Sumner who got an Excellence in Acting Award too!!

Thanks as well to Reefton Players and Hokitika Dramatic Society for giving us a good competition with some tough acts to follow!

We’re off to the regional festival in Havlock in two weeks time.

We’re back on stage competing in this years TheatreFest with Denniston Rose. If you missed it last year, come along and see us, Hokitika Dramatic Society and Reefton Players as we make our bid to get to nationals in Wellington. We’re looking for an enthusiastic tech minded person to join our theatre group!

We’re looking for someone to assist our Technical Director with setup and operation of lighting, sound and digital backdrops for our productions.

This will include running tech for our entries into the TheatreFest one act play festivals and you will need to be available to tour with us to regional and national competitions. As well as work with the group on large scale local productions.
