Acoustic Routes

Acoustic Routes Acoustic Routes is Wellington's folk music club for people who enjoy performing and listening to traditional and contemporary folk music. All welcome.

Most months we host a singaround, and a Social Club & concert with guest performers. Acoustic Routes (Wellington Folk Centre Incorporated) is a club for people who enjoy playing and listening to folk and acoustic styles of music. We have several regular events each month. The first Friday of the month is a blackboard concert at Mojo Invincible, 161 Willis Street. The second Sunday of the month is

usually the singaround. This is a relaxed opportunity to share your latest song or tune, increase your performing confidence, and enjoy the company of other folkies. The fourth Thursday of the month generally features a concert, usually with a visiting artist and support acts from amongst our membership. These concerts are at Roseneath School Hall, Wellington. Membership of Acoustic Routes costs $25 a year for individuals, $40 for couples or families, or $15 for students and beneficiaries. It entitles you to door-charge discounts at Acoustic Routes events and also at events put on by most other folk clubs. Members get priority access to performance opportunities, and can have input into the club's activities. To join, email [email protected]. Acoustic Routes publishes this newsletter (The Balladeer) at the start of every month, and also an acoustic gig guide for the Wellington region (Acoustic Routes update). To subscribe to either, contact [email protected]

Social Club 4 March CANCELLED Sorry
‍Sincere apologies, everyone - Deb and Jenni are unable to perform for us on Wednesday due to illness. We hope to get them another month.
We've decided to cancel the Social Club for this week. We're looking into the possibility of holding it on Wednesday 18 March, and will let you know if it's going to happen. Pencil it in, just in case!
Meanwhile, hope to see you on Monday 9 March, 7pm, for the singaround (on our new time and day) - same venue, upstairs at the Johnsonville Club.
Best wishes
Janette for Acoustic Routes Committee

It feels a bit soon to be having our monthly concert tomorrow (Monday 15 September) but it really is the 3rd Monday! It features out-of-town guests Barry and Lorna Swallow, with local support acts Stephen Hill and Beans Wright. Upstairs at the Johnsonville Club, 1 Norman Lane (off Johnsonville Road), Johnsonville, Wellington, 7:30 pm. All welcome.
Also, the Joan Prior Award for young folk musicians will close at 11:59 pm on Monday 15 September. The award is different this year in that it's not limited to performers. If you (or someone you know) have a project in mind that needs a bit of funding, and you fit the criteria, you could win $500 to help you along your way - but only if you put in an application! Pass it on to anyone you know who might be interested. See more and enter on the Joan Prior entry page on the website. https://acousticroutes.org.nz/
