[Ai] ART IS DEAD: LONG LIVE ART: DENIAL- 01
I made a post on artstation a while ago exploring the possibilities of Ai generated art through images around the 5 stages of grief. I expressed my saddness at what this means for Art and artists but also hope and excitement for the future rebirth of Art.
It received a lot more attention than I expected both positive and negative, but as is often the case the negative weighs most heavily on the psyche and I was a bit taken a back by the vitriol and personal attacks especially from community leaders and colleagues, that I love and respect. I can understand their fear and resentment towards this new technology as it is truly terrifying and will undoubtedly cause chaos in the commercial art industry, but this is true of all technology breakthroughs. (We can only imagine the millions of jobs that fusion power will make obsolete.) But I don't think its really acceptable for experienced artists to be whipping up so much fear, anxiety and anger in the younger generations or to be normalising bullying and demeaning behavior. Its not ok, work through your grief and accept that Ai art is here and yes it will change the landscape of commercial art but we can only move forward and help to steer its use in a positive direction.
So yes I am embracing Ai art and moving forward into the unknown future.
