Clay artist Emy Oikawa (Eclo Art - By Emy Oikawa ) was born and raised in Colombia with Japanese heritage. She has created various Colombian, New Zealand and Japanese inspired clay artworks and jewellery.
Eclo comes from Emy’s initials (Emy Cristina Londoño Oikawa). All of her art is handmade and sculptured with a fine spatula using non-dry clay and oven bake clay. Here is a sneak peek of her new piece, clay hanging mobile. It’s colorful and beautiful.💕 The piece will be shown at Exhibition Okonomiya at Thistle Hall Gallery , 7th-12th December.

Sousaku-ninngyo, “creative doll-making”-a contemporary form of doll-making using paper clay. Atsuko learnt it in her home country Japan.
It is popular not only in Japan, but also other parts of the world, especially Europe. Sculpting facial features is arguably the most difficult aspect. She enjoys making kimono for my dolls, and placing them in traditional settings. The details are amazing - furniture, book, waraji (Japanese sandal), and tatami mats etc… You can see her creations at Thistle Hall Gallery ( ) on 7th-12th December.

Takako (Demekin) makes these beautiful origami earrings. They are all folded and varnished by her. She is also a Japanese language teacher. Maybe you can practice your Japanese with her during the exhibition at Thistle Hall ( ). 😁Come say “Konnichiwa” if you’re in town on 7th-12th December.
