Matt Ford's Artwork Matt Ford is an Animator, Illustrator and Tattooist living in Wellington. also working as a freelance illustrator and as a tattooist.

He has studied a Bachelor of Creative Technologies majoring in Visual arts and animation and completed his studies in 2015. During the last two years, Matt has volunteered on several youth and community projects and hopes to continue to use his art to give back to his community and help others. Matt is highly disciplined and committed to perfecting his skills to produce the highest work of his abi

lity. Born in Dunedin, Matt spent his childhood roaming the hilltops of Mt Cargill training for the military, his interest in nature and his experiences as a child have become major influences into his artwork. Matt believes that through every line you can be freed from harsh realities of life and escape into the world of one’s imagination where conquering hardships is possible. With just a pen stroke an artist can become closer to peace in everyday life. Matt wants the viewer to lose themselves in his work and follow the journey of detail, to look beyond the lines and see the meaning and stories hidden behind each stroke.

🌿🇦🇺 A Little Piece of Australia 🇦🇺🌿

A fun project featuring a collection of Australian native flowers and foliage, brought together into a delicate botanical arrangement.

After tattooing for over a decade, it’s always exciting getting the chance to work on something completely new. This was actually my first time tattooing these particular Australian flowers, and I thoroughly enjoyed researching the shapes, colours, textures, and natural flow of each species to create something both elegant and personal.

One of the things I love most about tattooing is that there’s always something new to learn, no matter how long you’ve been doing it.

The Red Spider Lily is one of those flowers that creates incredible movement in a tattoo. The sweeping petals and stems allowed this design to wrap around the knee while maintaining a strong silhouette from every angle.

Built directly onto the leg and designed to flow around existing tattoos.

This project started small and quickly grew into something much bigger. That’s often the best part of custom work, the design evolves with the body and becomes something completely unique.

I’ve tattooed a lot of subjects over the years, but dragons never get old. They’re powerful, timeless, and can be adapted into almost any style.
