TOP ART AT Unitec

Unitec is hosting the NZQA Top Art Exhibition from 29 July – 5 August 2026 at our Mt Albert campus.

Top Art is an annual touring exhibition showcasing a selection of NCEA Level 3 Visual Arts portfolios that achieved Excellence in the previous year. The exhibition features outstanding student work across five streams: design, painting, photography, printmaking, and sculpture. All welcome.

Presented by the New Zealand Qualifications Authority (NZQA), Top Art is an annual exhibition that brings together some of the most compelling and ambitious Visual Art works being made in Aotearoa today.

For visitors, Top Art offers a rare opportunity to encounter emerging artistic voices at a moment of experimentation, skill, and fresh perspective. Spanning a wide range of media, ideas, and approaches, the exhibition invites audiences to see how contemporary issues, personal expression, and technical mastery come together in powerful and unexpected ways.

Whether you’re an art lover, a practicing creative, or simply curious about where visual art is heading next, Top Art provides an engaging snapshot of the ideas and energy shaping the future of art in New Zealand.
