We're excited to announce the cast of our contemporary adaptation of Dario Fo's Accidental Death of an Anarchist, directed by Joy Hellyer and Paul Kay. They are:

The Maniac - James Kiesel
PC Jackson/PC Joseph - Sadie McLoughlin
Superintendent Curry - Chris O'Grady

Here's a sneak peek at them in action from the readthrough on Sunday. It's already hilarious and the characters are coming through really strongly with this highly entertaining group.

A reminder that auditions are coming up for Accidental Death of an Anarchist by Dario Fo, directed by Joy Hellyer and Paul Kay, on Tuesday 5 May. This is a dazzlingly funny script that should appeal to any actor who enjoys performing satire. Some of the seven characters can be played by any age and any gender. We also need production crew.

queen b is directed by seasoned KAT director, Megan Davies, shown here with cast members Aradhna Lal, Sylvia McKenna (Our Man in Havana), Catherine Pryce and Hayley Cherryblossom (The Man Whose Mother Was a Pirate).

Megan says: "queen b follows three women going through the selection process for a dystopian society's reproductive programme, where reproductive labour is traded for status. I chose this play both for its themes around reproductive rights, patriarchy and capitalism, and for how it highlights the conflicting ways the women navigate this society."

The Martha Syndrome is directed by Liz Ebrey, who had her directing debut with us in last year's short-play season. Here she is with cast members Floyd Norman (last seen doubling as Jekyll and Hyde in November), Gabrielle Wheddon (now our club treasurer) and newcomer Caryl Loria Illana.

Liz says: "I wanted something very different from the last short play I did, a 1920s farce. I was drawn to the mystery and intrigue of The Martha Syndrome and the complexity of the characters, as well as the commentary it presents on gender and power dynamics."

Our season of short plays, Discoveries, opens on Thursday! Battle Hymn is directed by KAT newcomer Millie Armstrong, shown here with cast members Eleanor Crampton, Ruth Sarratt and Charlotte Stevens.

Mille says: "Battle Hymn is a Cold War-era play about the need for hope chosen for its snappy dialogue and scary, relevant themes of hope and community in the face of seemingly imminent disaster."
