POPROX IMPROV COMEDY - Friday August 28

PopRox Improv are Wellington's premiere improv company. They've made the people of Te Whanganui-a-Tara laugh for half a decade, and have toured across Aotearoa and the world (most recently a sold-out musical improv performance at the Edinburgh Fringe in 2025).

This Friday, two musicians and 2 singers will create improvised songs based on audience suggestion, love songs for those being reunited with their partners, ballads for the cup of coffee they had to chuck away before airport security, jazzy scats for rushing passengers by and more. Passersby can request songs, offer suggestions or even join in! Enjoy the fun in the main terminal by Good Day this Friday!

💝 There once was a group of regal theatre queens who made a show called HAUSDOWN. While sipping tea, they proclaimed, “This show simply CANNOT be contained in one place. We declare to take it to the people!”. And thus became the CubaDupa 2026 performance on thine streets of Wellington you know and love today.

🤩 This could be you! Tell us your story of how you’d like to reshape things and bring MORE art to Cuba Street. It does not need to be a fully formed idea. Just let us know where you’re at.

💥 Make it loud. Make it proud. Make it marvellous! Expressions of interest are open until August 7th. Link in the CubaDupa bio! 🔗

Fringe and Vic Uni 🤝 Big shoutout to our two latest Te Herenga Waka—Victoria University of Wellington student interns (Angie Tippayamaskomon and Jessie Bothwell) who dove deeeeeep into our abundant archives to digitise the festival’s media. Fringe and Vic go way way back! It was great to have them on board and continue this collaboration this year. 💝

Pictured is a cheeky team photo at the office and a clip of an article written in The Post (The Post Caitlin Salter). More photos and articles to come! 🤩🫶🏽

Big thanks to the Wellington Airport for sponsoring emerging work to be presented to new audiences. This month's artist is Juna, an electric duo with fun, summery vibes. Perfect!

JUNA this Friday at the Wellington Airport! ✈️

Our June performer is Juna! Come see this summery duo live at the main terminal next to Good Day. Friday June 26 from 5:30pm.

Juna is a lively duo (Hannah and Max) who’ve been performing together since late 2024. They have an incredible set of originals as well as covers. You may have seen them at gigs at Gardens Magic, San Fran or Ignite Pōneke! Max has competed at Smokefree Rockquest for 4 years and made it through to finals in Auckland. Hannah has been writing for years and together they bring the energy! 💥
