What a special day for some of our WDA teams!

We were lucky to have ex-WDA student Faith Ward pop into the St James theatre to say hi before we danced. Faith is now a Dallas Cowboys Cheerleader, and she loved catching up with old friends and meeting a new generation of WDA dancers. She shared a little about her training and tour schedule all over the USA, and was such an inspiration to our dancers, who loved hearing her talk about living her dream.

Our dancers were at DanceNZmade, performing on the beautiful, historic St James Theatre stage alongside many talented teams from across the region. They all represented WDA so well and made the most of dancing on that beautiful stage.

A huge thank you to Dean McKerras and the DanceNZMade team for making this event possible.

A little recap of what we got up to over term 1!

We set off the year with a bang with special guest tutors in our open classes, pointe shoe parties, competition teams and solos underway, pyjama parties and so much more.

Outside of the studio our students enjoyed workshops, shows and our new and returning soloists enjoyed plenty of competition fun.

We hope this video brings you some joy during this wild weather and we will see you back in studio very soon!

With many schools closed tomorrow, we wanted to share this update tonight so families can plan ahead.

Due to the ongoing Red Weather Warning and State of Emergency, Wellington Dance Academy will remain closed on Tuesday. This includes morning & after-school classes at both Thorndon and Khandallah.

Thank you for your understanding - we plan to re-open Wednesday, provided conditions cooperate.

Guest Contemporary Workshops with Gabby Arnold

We’re excited to welcome Gabby Arnold back to Wellington on Friday 17 April for two special Contemporary workshops.

Gabby taught with us while training at the New Zealand School of Dance and performing in WOW, and has since moved back to Australia to continue her dance career.

She’ll be sharing her beautiful free-flowing contemporary style in two age-group workshops:

Ages 13+
2.00–3.30pm

Ages 8–12
4.30–6.00pm

Cost: $25 + booking fee
