THE JUST BE COLLECTIVE

THE JUST BE COLLECTIVE We are a group of storytellers, sharing stories we feel need to be heard. Everybody has a story, and the world should hear those stories.

The just be collective’s mission is to be a voice for those whose stories too often go unheard. Through movement, language, music and sound we create new experiences that confront and explore tough issues that are affecting today’s people and society. We believe that through art, we can engage with our community and learn together to grow and be the change we want to see in the world.

Our hearts have been heavy in the wake Friday's tragedy in Christchurch. Tonight's show will go on as scheduled at 6:30pm at BATS Theatre. A vigil for Christchurch will also be on at 6pm at the Basin Reserve. If you feel that going to the vigil is what you need, we encourage you to do so; we are with everyone there in spirit. Who Is Coming For Dinner is also on tomorrow night; we would love to see you then!

On this day, the day we premiere our latest piece, we would like to make our final introduction, Director Vero:
Veronica Butturini is an Italian dancer, performer and yoga teacher. She has been living in Wellington for the last 5 years where she has been connecting with inspiring local artists. “Who Is Coming For Dinner” is her first show as director. She is passionate about learning more of people, body awareness and movement intentions. Vero loves experimenting with different topping combinations on her pizza, but for sure there will never be mushrooms as she really can’t stand them.

With only one more day until opening, our penultimate introduction is our Assistant Director Filippo:
Filippo Gasparini is an Italian videographer with several years of experience in both video and film production. He has been involved in the creative process of making “Who Is Coming For Dinner” as assistant director and has been helping in the marketing for the show-trailers, business cards and pictures. He loves spending time in the kitchen and considers Parmigiano-Reggiano the king of cheeses.

Next up on our introduction list is our Technical Director Crystal:
Crystal Pulkowski originates from the other second city Chicago, where she earned her Bachelor of Science degree in Theatre Arts and Performance. Since moving to Wellington in 2015, she's worked on various shows and even started her own company "Lonely Shakespeare Collective" where they perform unknown works. She is super excited to be lighting for a dance and music piece again and cannot wait to blast the stage in colour. Outside of theatre, she makes a mean coffee at Scorch-O-Rama Cafe and enjoys eating a bowl of Mac N Cheese while watching Netflix with her birds.

Only 5 days until Opening Night! And with that exciting news, let us now introduce our final Creator/Performer Rasmus:
Rasmus Wessman is from Sweden where he has been performing since he was a little boy in the bathtub. He studied physical theatre in Sweden, and is now in his third year at Toi Whakaari. Rasmus is not a particular fan of food and only likes food when he's really hungry. When he was small, he and his brothers could survive on a single sandwich every day because they were so active and didn’t want to eat because it was boring to eat.
