Anyone who works for themselves, especially in the creative realm, knows how hard it is. Everything falls on my shoulders and some days it seems too much. My kids dont get the best of me when I have to constantly work late at night, im sure my partner feels the same. Oh and imposter syndrome is most definitely a thing!

But then I get emails like this, and I think, wow! Im really doing it. And im doing it well!

Go hug a creative , they need it.

My day:

Drive up through the cast iron gates... think, ooh this is a lovely Chapman Taylor house... meet the vendor... think, what a nice chap, I think I recognize him... I think, he must be a friend's dad... check with the agent... I recognize him?... no Helen, that's not your friends dad. That's the ex prime minister of NZ.

Oh. Oops. 🫣

Nice house, most excellent dog and chickens. 10/10 would recommend.

I get to see all sorts in my job. I get the maasssssive walk ups, walk downs, the omg do people actually live here? Today's jobs included this lovely house, nestled in the trees in the hills of Wellington. I was very, very, very happy they had a cable car! The whole journey took over 2 minutes!

Say what?? It's coming up the end of February and I haven't had a shamless boast post yet? Oh that's because I've been SO. FRIKKEN. BUSY. I ain't complaining though, as always I feel so "pinch me" lucky that this is actually my job. How I feed my whanau and make this crazy little thing called life a most excellent experience.

Reading this article in Stuff "Our favourite historic homes of 2024" I'm tickled that I photographed their favorite one, Peter Pans cottage. That was probably my favorite too. I actually photographed 3 of the 8 listed .

2025 is already becoming memorable, I'll share some of those later. But for now, here's a great write up about some of the best listings of 2024

Another one ticked off the bucket list. 200 Willis Street, Phoenix House, a stunning heritage building by William Turnball. I've always wanted to photograph this one so I absolutely did a happy dance when this booking came through 🥰

She's as beautiful as I hoped she would be and thoroughly enjoyed capturing the original features that have been lovingly restored.
