It's Conservation Week and Kiwis love the Tui (or Parson Bird) which, with its gorgeous plumage and throat full of golden notes, is returning to our gardens and towns in increasing numbers.

Search 'Tui' on our website and you could have a Tui on your wall as well. Check out 'Tui over Kapiti' by Anne Wendelken; 'Tui in flight' by Phil Nixey and 'Tui Gorging' by Sandy Abbot.

While you are pondering on your choice, you could also check out the fabulous paintings of 19th Century painter J.G.Keulemans.

You could enjoy one of his detailed illustrations, such as this kakapo, year round! The Keulemans series also features the extinct Huia and Koreke.

Wellington's Astoria Cafe has the air of a grand European coffee house with its decorative vintage ceiling, dark woodwork and bustling location in the heart of the CBD. Founded in 1996, it looks out on the quirky water fountains of Midland Park in Lambton Quay.

When artist Anne Taylor visited to draw, it seemed full of stylish ladies in town for the World of Wearable Art Show, which happens every year in Wellington in September / October.

Anne has done versions in cream and red- check them out at redrockprints.co.nz/collections/anne-taylor

Ernest Papps has spent more than six decades honing his skills as an artist and painter. After arriving in NZ in 1955, he soon became a freelance illustrator and spent weekends roaming Wellington's streets and dashing off sketches and watercolours with fellow young artists.

It must be nearly Christmas in this familiar scene of Wellington's Oriental Bay with the pohutakawa flowers starting to bloom.

We also have a limited number of copies of Ernest’s book The Art of Landscape Painting available for $29.95. This book is the perfect gift for the aspiring painter in your family with advice and ideas and a selection of Ernest’s own paintings
