The historic Embassy Theatre is Wellington’s finest picture palace, housing three screens equipped with the latest (including 3D) technology and state of the art sound. Originally built in 1924, it was fully refurbished in 2003, to host the World Premiere of the final film in Sir Peter Jacksons Lord of the Rings Trilogy: The Lord of the Rings: The Return of the King. The Platinum seating is a premiere offering which allows you to enjoy a movie in extra comfort in beautiful leather armchairs located in the prime position in the theatre. Situated on the ground level of The Embassy in what was the main auditoriums original 1920’s orchestra pit, is the newest extension – Cinema deLuxe and The Black Sparrow Bar. Cinema deLuxe features two intimate 70-seat premium cinemas with custom made leather armchairs and the very latest in digital sound and 3D screen technology. The Black Sparrow lounge and drinkery is home to some of the classiest cocktails and finest finger foods you will experience in Wellington.
