Supermarkets can be hideous places. Big prices, long queues, annoying people.

So when Paula from PAK'nSAVE Lower Hutt, saw I only had a few items, she packed them directly into the bag for me. A small thing, but it meant I could get about my day quicker and easier.

All with a beautiful smile, and a bow in her hair.

Her Mum dobbed her in 😳

Meet this lovely Ōtaki Mum, Hayley. You might know her from your regular Friday afternoon pick up of cookies and slices. One customer who came during filming had received some great news from her body building competition and was using this for her cheat day. Mmmmm cheat days…..

Hayley’s Mum nominated her for Good Sorts At Work but there was just one small problem- she was SO nervous about singing.

But you know what? She did it anyway. Sometimes being a Good sort means stepping out of your comfort zone and saying YES to growth.

Sweet by Hayley has been going for about 3 years now. The kitchen is prestine, and all council approved. They’ve been really supportive of this business, so big ups to them.

I was lucky enough to try a box and I think I earned points as a Mum when I came home with them.

A British gardener singing The Beatles. It had to be done 🇬🇧

Driving along on a windy day, 4 degrees and starting to rain, I spot Steve packing down from a hard day’s gardening. “Hang on, I’ll get my wife, she’ll love this” he tells me.

Steve and Catherine Piggott are the driving force behind Piggotts Patch. Steve’s on the tools, and Catherine manages the bookings and client care.

Steve doesn’t let the weather get him down. The only thing he complained about was the song ended too early 😬

🤪This place is full of crazy people.

Crazy about being free, enjoying life and celebrating live music.

What I love the most about Firebird Cafe is, it doesn’t matter if you don’t know anyone when you arrive, because you’ll most likely leave having made a new friend. It’s just that kind of place.

On the second Saturday of the month, Firebird Cafe in Levin, hosts an Open Mic night. Some of the most incredible musicians come out of the woodwork. And some newbies discover themselves here too. Played a b**g note? They’ll cheer for you. Sound like Stevie Ray Vaughan? They’ll cheer for you too.

Grab a pizza, drink or dessert, and come and join Toni and the crew for an absolutely amazing night of fun.
