Cantoris would like to warmly welcome you to our final concert of 2025: A Very Cantoris Christmas!

The festivities will begin with Vivaldi’s Gloria, a joyous and uplifting work that will get you right into the Christmas spirit. Then it will be time to get your singing caps on and join us in singing a selection of beloved and well-known carols. From Silent Night in Te Reo to Joy to the World, this is a perfect opportunity to gather and feel the Christmas spirit through music.

Alongside familiar favourites, we’ll showcase a selection of beautiful choral works, including traditional 16th-century carols, as well as pieces by the Arvo Pärt and kiwi composer Jenny McLeod. It’s going to be a night full music and Christmas cheer - the perfect way to end 2025!

🌸 Meet our Musical Director: Ingrid Schoenfeld 🌸

1. Name of pets: 🐶 Pudly (aka Pud) (aka the goodest boy ever) and 🐴 Rocky
2. Favourite sweet treat: Lemon Curd 🍋
3. Composer you could listen to on repeat for the rest of your life and not get sick of: Straight tie between Bach or Schubert
4. Who in the choir do you think would do best in surviving a zombie apocalypse? CJ - he is smart, resourceful and medically astute (and would be scared enough of the Zombies to run away or find a solid hiding spot) 🧟‍♂️
5. Fun fact about you: I have lived in four countries: US, England, Belize, NZ (and NZ is by far the best) 🇳🇿

An Invitation to Love will be Ingrid’s second concert with Cantoris, after she took over as Music Director in Jan 2025.

Hailing from the mighty Minneapolis, Ingrid is talented pianist, teacher, and conductor, with over a decade of experience under her wing. After completing her degree with first-class honours in piano performance from the New Zealand School of Music, Ingrid went on to study conducting under Kenneth Young and harpsichord performance under Dr Erin Helyard and Douglas Mews.

In 2016, Ingrid made her orchestral debut with the Nelson Symphony Orchestra, playing Shostakovich’s 2nd symphony.

Ingrid spends her life privately teaching piano, conducting two choirs in Pōneke, and sending the Cantoris committee group chat photos of her two Goodest Boys, Pud and Rocky.

Ingrid is an absolute powerhouse, full of energy and experience, and we are so excited to see Cantoris flourish under her leadership ✨

Cantoris is excited to announce our second concert for 2025: An Invitation to Love.

Romantic love, sacred love, and even friendship will be captured through the works of Tallis, Ireland, Whitacre, and the shimmering centrepiece of Lauridsen’s ‘Nocturnes’.

New works by Wellington’s own Jonathan Berkahn sit alongside a vibrant selection of madrigals that capture the joy, longing, and playful spirit that love inspires.

We cannot wait to perform and share our love of this music with you! ✨
