Gratitude Post.

Another big THANK You to those who supported the Rongoā Māori drop a couple of weeks ago. We raised funds for both as well as some fine art paper to create inventory to begin my market journey.

I'm still acquiring a few last necessities to confirm my first market so stay tuned. I'll be sure to post when we break the seal and I've confirmed the first spot.

Also, I've been working away on some fanart prints which will only be available in person. I'll post some previews Ākuanei.

Once more, ngā mihi ki a koutou mō tō koutou tautoko. ❤️ 🤍 🖤

Some time ago, my friend Abnett Comics took on the mighty task to whakatika the only Māori Marvel super hero. The character was weak appropration on many levels and Mark tried to give him more authenticity as did I with the imagery. Unfortunately Marvel didnt bite at this new version, so we are sharing with you today. Please have a read and give any feedback you like. How did I do on the costume?

Giving to charity as I grow, right from the beginning, is important to me because the heart of my work is the uplifting of our community. Donating a portion of my sales reminds me that this journey is about more than profit — it’s about contributing to something bigger than myself. Growing up, there were times when my whānau and I went without basic necessities like proper shoes, clothing, and even food. Because of that, supporting feels deeply personal to me, as they help the tamariki and whānau who need it most.

I like the idea that someone can have a giant drawing of Kawakawa or Kūmarahou hanging in their lounge and suddenly become the local “actually did you know…” person 😂

But honestly, that’s kind of the point of this series.

A lot of this knowledge nearly disappeared or was pushed aside for a long time, so I wanted to create something that helps keep it visible and sparks curiosity again.

These aren’t scientific diagrams or botanical studies. They’re me trying to capture the feeling, character and mana of these plants through ink and illustration.

Really cool seeing these works heading out into people’s homes now. Appreciate all the support on the Rongoā Māori series so far.

Each limited edition print from the Rongoā Māori series is packaged with a certificate of authenticity and a small print housed inside an envelope marked “Mātauranga”.

That word felt important to include.

For a long time, much of this knowledge was suppressed, dismissed, or pushed aside. These artworks were created as a small act of carrying it forward again through illustration, storytelling, and conversation.

My hope is that these works don’t just hang on walls, but encourage people to learn the names, stories, and presence of these native plants within their own homes and communities.

Really grateful to everyone who supported the release this weekend. Seeing this series begin its journey into the world means a lot.
