Kia Ora,
I have an important and sad update to share.
After nearly a decade of performing and sharing as much joy and love as I possibly can, I sadly have to take a step back for a while.
Due to a recent decline in my health it has been hard to maintain the Jack Swallows persona, I have been trying to push through changes and pain in my body to take the stage the best I can however bouncing back after each event has become more and more difficult, a proper diagnosis is needed but it's expensive and a very long wait time due to limited healthcare resources.
In the spirit of honesty, changes in theΒ community have also had a part to play with this decision. There has been a shift from the uplifting, kind and caring nature that was so inspiring for me. I have seen some very disappointing behaviour of late, and it is heartbreaking to see within a community that should stand strong and support each other instead of bickering and tearing each other down. There is enough cruelty and hardship in this world and watching some of my peers add to this is incredibly sad.
Performance has been such a strong passion and driving force in the last 9 years and I am so grateful for every moment, person that I have had the privilege to experience and meet.
I have made the decision to pause on Jack for the foreseeable future to give myself the chance to rest and focus on health and well-being.
This will also mean I sadly will not make it to Palmy Drag Fest as I do not have the capability at this time, I want to thank the team at Palmy for the kindness and understanding they have shown me.
Jack Swallows will make one final appearance with my favourite burlesque act I have created on the 11th of October at The Strange Market. I would love to see you there if you can make it.
From the bottom of my glittery heart, Thank you to everyone who has supported me in this wonderful little adventure. π€
