Te Korihi o te Tūī - Children's Choir Children's choir, ages 6-12 from Bream Bay, Northland Te Korihi o te Tūī is a children’s choir for 6 – 12 year olds in the Bream Bay area of Northland.

The choir is an auditioned choir of approximately 40+ local children. The choir meets weekly for practices where the children get to develop their vocal and choral skills under the guidance of experienced singing teacher and musical director Emma Couper and accomplished singer and performer Chris Townshend.

⭐ Joan Kennaway Aria Competition ⭐
An aria competition in memory of Joan Kennaway, acclaimed Northland singer, voice coach, Opera North founder and director of Opera in the Garden, will be held during the NPACS 2025 Vocal competitions:
📅 19-20 September 2025.
📍 Capitaine Bougainville Theatre, Forum North, Whangarei.
🏆 Cash prizes:
1st place: $3,500 | 2nd place: $1,000 | 3rd place: $500.
🟢 Open to singers 18 years or over and under 31 years on 1 September 2025.
❗️ Limited to 12 competitors.
🔵 Entries are open now and close on Friday 27 June, at 5pm (or before if 12 fully paid entries are received.)

Emma and Chris have led Te Korihi o te Tūī on an incredible journey to the world's biggest stage of choral singing and to a Bronze Diploma 🤩 An experience the kids will remember forever.

Huge congratulations to Emma's Opera North - Chamber Choir, which Chris sings in for being awarded a Gold ✨ Diploma! Wow!
