We recently had the wonderful Heidi Martin Dance visit the studio to photograph our dancers in their element 💜

During her visit, she captured so many beautiful moments from the beginning of our journey as a new ballet school, along with many first steps in ballet. We also had the pleasure of sharing some special images with mums for Mother’s Day.

Hi everyone! I’m Jess, the Director and teacher at First Position Ballet Academy.

Dance has been part of my life for as long as I can remember. I’ve trained in all styles of dance, with a particular love for teaching Ballet and Contemporary. After years of teaching across Australia and around Auckland, I’m so excited to create a welcoming ballet school here in Waimauku, where children can learn ballet through the world-renowned RAD syllabus in a friendly and supportive environment.

To me, ballet is about more than learning steps and technique. Through ballet, children can develop confidence, discipline, resilience, creativity, and the joy of performing - not to mention make friends for life. I believe ballet classes should feel encouraging, supportive, and inclusive.
