Sometimes you meet a woman who makes you change the way you see your own work.
Gemma was one of those women.
She arrived to model for our NZ workshop - completely at ease in front of the camera, effortlessly moving from one look to the next.
First, jeans and a simple top.
Then a white, fitted dress catching the last of the golden light.
And finally, a beautiful brown two-piece gown as the light faded into blue hour and she moved into the black sand and water.
Three completely different looks, three different moods -and somehow Gemma made every one of them feel completely natural.
Her long, golden hair moved through each scene, catching the light and becoming almost part of the landscape.
And she was so professional. So present. So incredibly easy to photograph.
Which is exactly what I love about these workshop moments.
Because I don't want to teach photographers how to force a pose.
I want to teach them how to see the woman in front of them.
How to notice what feels natural to her.
How to guide without taking over.
How to move through a scene and let it unfold...
And sometimes, when someone like Gemma steps in front of your camera, you remember just how beautiful that can be.
Natural.
Effortless.
Connected.
Gemma, you were an absolute dream. 🤍
