Such a great start to the first of our five Rongoā Practitioner Wānanga. 😍

Our kaupapa was Foundations: Holding space for yourself before holding space for others. We explored who we are as practitioners, why we practise, and what informs our mahi, alongside tikanga, kawa, consent, confidentiality, clinical safety and body mechanics.

In the afternoon, the tauira experienced and observed two full clinic sessions from start to finish.

We’re also planning a community clinic where whānau can receive mirimiri, romiromi and mahi ā wheua, while the tauira practice. I’ll share more once the dates are confirmed 😉

Overall, a really great day!

Mauri blessings x

What an incredible evening ❤️

A huge ngā mihi to everyone who came along to celebrate Matariki with us and took part in our Uku Taonga making. It was such a privilege to see so many tamariki, rangatahi and whānau creating together, sharing stories, laughter and creativity.

One of the highlights of the night was simply looking out across our beautiful Tūrangi town centre and seeing it filled with life. Seeing people out and about, supporting local businesses, connecting with one another and enjoying our community was something really special.

Over the evening, over a hundred clay taonga were chosen, carved and painted!

Thank you to everyone who stopped by, shared a kōrero, helped out, or simply came to be part of the evening. Events like this remind us how important it is to create spaces where our community can come together, celebrate our culture and make lasting memories.

We can't wait to do it all again next year.

Ngā mihi nui, Mitch & the Ahoake whānau

MATARIKI UKU TAONGA

This Matariki, bring the tamariki along to create their very own clay taonga at Ahoake, here in the Tūrangi Town Centre!

Choose from a Hei Tiki, Toki or Pekapeka, carve your own patterns and designs, then paint your taonga in bright colours before taking it home.

A simple, hands-on activity celebrating creativity, connection and Matariki.

RŌIHO, RŌAKE, HAEPURU & HAEMATUA - PUNA POT

This newly carved pumice pot draws inspiration from the Atua Twins - Rōiho & Rōake, Haepuru & Haematua. I’ve potted up some String of Turtles as the hair, heaps of fun creating this one!

16/05/2026

Bit of recent mahi toi from the last couple of weeks. Still jumping between mediums, carving pumice, shaping and carving uku, playing with digital design & poster art. Little rough on my first binding using regular rope but know it will be better next time. Still experimenting, learning and making 🌈✨🙏🏿
