Chris and I made this full length documentary about my very missed, Papa and Nan Maia, Rei Hamon Art NZ. Many of you would have enjoyed or seen some of his artwork, possibly from your grandparents!
It's a real story about his life as a Māori environmentalist and artist and features some interviewees who are no longer with us. he was commissioned to draw art for Royal families, travelled the world and Aotearoa and helped to save the Kōkaka... pretty good for someone who left school at 14, left this large whānau and moved to the Uruweras.
Chris, Albert Awanui Hamon and I made this 50-minute doco with a fab team and it was an eye-opening world into how to make a documentary and the world of TV... it's not for the fainthearted!
