Dorset buttons date from the early 17th century when buttons were individually made by hand from wood, ivory, metal, or as in the case of Dorset buttons, using metal or bone rings covered with yarn. The ones youโ€™ll be learning to make are a modern and fun twist on a very old art.
You will begin by learning how to make the Christmas tree button and then you choose what to do next. You will be able to choose your own colours. You are likely to complete about three over the weekend but instructions will be given for all designs.
