The camera doesn’t lie. But it does choose sides.

Photographer, writer, operator of many levers, Simon Shattky is less interested in the obvious shot and more in what sits just off to the edge of it. You’ll recognise his eye from pages of BayBuzz where image and text work together, each sharpening the other.

His practice moves between storytelling and observation, often landing somewhere wry, human, and quietly exacting. His approach? Not everything needs to be overworked or over-explained. As he’s written elsewhere, sometimes the smartest move is knowing when to stop talking.
Because the first glance rarely tells the whole story.

John Pule's practice sits in that liminal space between language and image. His titles read like fragments of verse, and the works follow suit: layered, symbolic, slightly unsteady in the best way. A gentle instruction: don’t trust your first impression.
Lisa Feyen’s Flock rewards a second look... preferably through 3D glasses.

Through layered screenprint and subtle spatial disruption, she constructs a work that resists a single reading. Don the 3D glasses and the image loosens, revealing something less fixed, more contingent.

A study in how we gather, and what sits just beneath the surface of belonging.
