The other day I was walking down the road and decided to pop into a local lawyers office. I knocked and entered and then took a quick look over their shoulder at the contract they were drafting.

After a minute I asked them if they had considered moving some of the text and wording about. Then I told them that I actually prefer my contracts to be structured very differently and I wasn’t that keen on that way they worked.

They said ‘Oh, are you a lawyer? Or are you looking for legal assistance?’

No, I said and then I just walked out.

I’m just kidding. I didn’t do that. 😜

A lot of my sweetest (literally) childhood memories are associated with food: birthday cakes, whitebait fritters, pancakes, rounds and rounds of toast, fairy bread, cheerios, asparagus rolls etc etc. Butter, to me, is associated with sleeves rolled up, licking spoons, messy fingers and simple honest good times.

I’m going to see about getting these framed with coloured mats and simple wood box frames.

At the moment the plan is for these to head to an art show in Auckland late August - will keep you posted.

During the recent group exhibition I was asked about two things - do I do commissions (yes I do!) and do I have prints.

Re prints: at this stage I’m keen to keep larger canvas originals as unique one offs - exclusive to the collectors who bought them.

But prints do offer a good entry point to purchase artwork. So I’m currently working on a small series of paintings on paper with the intention that these become a print collection - with a range of available sizes. The full collection should be ready in a couple of months.

Once I’ve sorted and launched the prints, it’s also likely the originals will become available to buy. Will keep you posted.

I’m really looking forward to being able to offer my supporters more ways to access my artwork. Thanks as ever for being here!

I don’t consider myself a painter of objects and people from the past. For me, it’s more about what stays timeless. What still resonates and feels familiar, regardless of when the moment was captured.

Have you seen my work and it reminded you of a family photo you love and think would make a great painting? Since starting my latest series, I’ve been asked about whether I accept commissions on a number of occasions. And so I’ve opened up a handful of slots between now and November. Drop me a line if you have a memory you would like me to capture as a painting. All the details can be found by following the link in my bio.

These sweet little Mount base track paintings, mounted onto wood box panels, are on show and available as part of Villa Studios group exhibition. They are joyful, expressive landscapes that can sit just as easily on a book shelf, as they can hung in a little nook of your home.

Perfect if your house has more glass than walls, or if you already have ‘too much art’ and are struggling for wall space.

The Peoples Gallery is open 10-3pm today at the Historic Village.

Ps - there’s no such thing as ‘too much art’. But you already know that right? 😉

Happy weekend all,
T

Sometimes it’s what I don’t paint that I love most. Like these suggested buttons and creases.

I try not to over think the areas that get left a little more ‘undone’ as I’m working. If I like the way it looks, that’s good enough.
