Always a pleasure to work with Hearing Support Bay of Plenty with our Sonic Cinema NZ events, hosting open-captioned film events for our deaf & hard of hearing community.

PSA! 🎬 Tickets sales for Creative Community Cinema - THE ADVENTURES of PRISCILLA QUEEN of the DESERT, scheduled for this Wednesday night the 2nd Sept are looking a tad grim, so if you’ve been sitting on the fence with this one, now’s the time to secure your tickets!

Unfortunately if ticket sales remain low, we’ll have to cancel - we’ll announce if the screening can proceed tomorrow (Tuesday) night!

These monthly club events are a whole lot of fun where attendees bring their crafty project whilst enjoying the film - think crochet, knitting, journaling etc, all whilst enjoying the film! 🧶🧵🖍️✏️

Celebrating the artistry of costume design, our latest programme is screening films with sublime costumes and of course THE ADVENTURES of PRISCILLA QUEEN of the DESERT is no exception!

Last night we had the pleasure of hosting the film makers from Heat 7 & Heat 8 in the Vista Foundation 48Hours Film Festival for their very own viewing party.
Congratulations to all the teams that entered and those who find themselves in the 2026 Across Aotearoa Shortlist!
Thanks also to Jannine Spiers for facilitating a fun evening for our local film makers! 🎬📽️🎞️

It was such a warm-hearted & busy evening at the cinema last Friday with the launch of FRIDAY NIGHT FLICKS & our screening of JURASSIC PARK! 🎬🍿🦕

Special thanks to the enthusiastic cinema-goers who joined us in celebrating the incredible life & legacy of Sir Sam Neill. It was a wonderful evening.

The Lady in the Van (2015) is a witty, bittersweet comedy-drama based on Alan Bennett’s memoirs. In 1973 London, a homeless elderly woman, Miss Shepherd (Maggie Smith), parks her van in playwright Alan Bennett’s driveway. What begins as a temporary arrangement lasts 15 years, leading to an unlikely and deeply human friendship.
