Posted by Cirkidz I just had to share with you The Reg Bolton Circus Hand!
Created by none other than clown, teacher, actor and writer who influenced a generation of performers, Reg Bolton. Pioneering the concept of "new circus" he once described himself as "an enthusiast who became enthusiastic about the possibilities of using circus for education, self-fulfilment and community development"
Full of hope for the future of the circus he completed a PhD, 'Why Circus Works: how the values and structures of circus make it a significant developmental experience for young people' at Murdoch University including the Circus Hand analogy.
This Circus Hand Analogy shows the hand having 6 elements of childhood: Self, Fun, Risk, Dreams, Trust and Work.
Each part highlights the positive benefits children experience when participating in circus classes.
Over the years much research has shown that Circus Arts stimulate creativity, improve coordination, concentration and confidence and develop persistence and perseverance while providing children a space to have fun and the opportunity to learn something new and make friends all at the same time!!
