🏃‍♀️ Next Event: Saxton Cross Country 🏃‍♂️

Come along for a great afternoon of cross country racing at Saxton Softball Park - open to everyone!

Our Tasman Year 5–8 Inter-Regional Cross Country team will also be using the event as their final hit-out before they compete at the Inter-Regional Cross Country on 24 September, where they’ll take on teams from Wellington and Canterbury.

It’s a great chance for the team to sharpen the legs, build confidence and get familiar with the course - but you don’t need to be part of the team to come along and race!

Choose your distance, bring your friends and family, and have a go.

Where: Saxton Softball Park - Near athletics track

When: Meet at 2.30pm for a group warm up before a 2.50pm start

Distances: 1km, 2km, 3km, 4km (each lap is 1km)

The inter-regional team will do 2km (yr 5 & 6) or 3km (yr 7 & 8)

Who: Open to everyone

🇳🇿 A huge congratulations to Remy, Paula, and Chris, our three Athletics Tasman athletes who have been proudly representing New Zealand at the World Masters Athletics Championships in Daegu, South Korea, over the past few days!

It’s a fantastic achievement to make it to the world championships and compete on the international stage against some of the best masters athletes from around the globe.

Remy lined up in the M35 100m, running 11.26 in his heat before progressing through to the semi-final where he ran 11.47, while Paula finished an impressive 8th in the W50 10km road race in 43:53. Holding it down in the field events was Chris, who finished 12th in M55 Javelin.

We’re incredibly proud to see three Athletics Tasman athletes representing NZ on the world stage. Congratulations Remy, Paula and Chris - what an achievement! 👏🇳🇿

Athletics season is rolling around fast!!!

Takaka Athletics will be holding our Annual General Meeting on Wednesday 16th September at 5.30pm at the Golden Bay Flying Club Rooms.

We have 3 committee members stepping down this year, so we really need new members to join our team, help our athletes increase their skills, and keep our great little club going. As Takaka Athletics is now an Incorporated Society, we are required to have at least 10 members registered for the full 12 months of the year, even though we are only a summer club. Committee members are registered through Athletics NZ as volunteers.

If you are keen to join or even just want to find out more about Takaka Athletics, we would love you to come along.

The AGM will be followed by a quick committee meeting.
