Nurture our writers of tomorrow! Children have an unbridled imagination and it is our job as parents, guardians and teachers to harness their creativity, promote their love for stories and build a solid foundation in writing. By giving them the tools to create incredible stories and the time to focus on the wonders of imaginative creation and the written word we are offering them a whole new world of excitement.
Story time is one of the most beneficial learning times for children. Not only are we entertaining young minds, but we are building vocabularies, teaching valuable life lessons and giving kids the freedom to build fantasies and allowing them to take control of the worlds within their minds.
In today’s world we know that parents don’t always have enough time to devote towards reading and have even less time to indulge these wonderful young writers which is why our workshops will take the time to read exciting stories, create an understanding of the text and also give children the building blocks they need to create their own stories.
Who will benefit from the workshops:
• Children with a love for books
• Creative children with a love for story-telling and writing
• Children who need a helping hand with the foundations of writing
• Children who would benefit from extra reading time
• Children who love asking questions and engaging with the stories being read
• Any child who would benefit from one-on-one story time and extra reading lessons
The workshops will incorporate:
• Story time
• Helpful reading lessons
• Engaging with the texts
• Grammar and sentence structure
• Story writing lessons
• Story telling lessons – oral
• Basic written foundation phase
• Imaginative story creation
The workshop will consist of a weekly one hour session and all equipment will be supplied. Private tuition is available upon request, each lesson will be designed with the child’s individual needs in mind and taken at his/her own pace. The workshop and lessons are designed to be fun, relaxed and enjoyable with no more than 6 kids per session.
Children will be placed into groups according to their ages and will have the curriculum based on their current writing level.
