This cannonball (32 pounder), in the Russell Museum collection was found at Ruapekapeka by Ian Hilton when he was young on his parents farm nearby. It is 14cm in diameter and weighs 14.5kgs. It was recently donated to the Russell Museum by Jan Ferguson from the Butler Point Whaling Museum. Ian passed the cannonball onto Steve Crouch who was friends with the owners of the Butler Point Museum.
