🎭 And just like that… the curtain on Dare to Dream Jr has closed. ✨

When we were invited to direct St Michael’s Church School’s production celebrating their incredible 175-year milestone, we felt genuinely thrilled and honoured. What followed has been months of planning, rehearsing, collaborating, problem-solving, and—most importantly—sharing a dream!

From the very beginning, we knew this was a big project. But with the incredible support of the SMCS staff, and creativity of co-choreographer Shannon Nuttall, we created something truly special. 💛

From auditions and rehearsals to performing on this iconic Ōtautahi stage, it has been an absolute privilege. Watching these young performers grow in confidence, determination and courage has been one of the greatest joys of the process. They’ve worked incredibly hard, and we couldn’t be prouder of them.

To everyone at SMCS—students, staff, whānau and our wider community— We hope you enjoyed Dare to Dream JR as much as we enjoyed creating it. 🌟

St Michael’s Church School is marking an incredible milestone with performances of Dare to Dream Jr., a vibrant, energy-packed production performed by our talented students on the iconic stage of the Isaac Theatre Royal.

Bursting with music, humour, and heart, this special anniversary show captures everything that makes St Michael’s such a treasured part of the Christchurch community.

Celebrating 175 years of learning, creativity, and generations of students encouraged to dream boldly and shine brightly, this is a night that will leave you uplifted, entertained, and incredibly proud.

A HUGE well done to our senior students who took part in Canterbury’s TheatreFest this weekend!!

You should all be so proud of yourselves, over the three performances we submitted, PLAY received 13 awards!

✨ We're so excited to be directing Disney's Dare to Dream JR! ✨

Since February this year, we've had the absolute pleasure of working with the incredible students at St Michael's Church School. These young performers will take to the stage in a larger-than-life Disney musical filled with beloved songs, energy and heart, to celebrate the School's 175-year celebrations!

PLAYFest 2026 – That's a Wrap! 🎭

This time last week, we were wrapping up the first of our two 2026 PLAY productions – PLAYFest! What an incredible weekend! Over 4 days, 130 students took to the stage across 5 fantastic shows – what an achievement!

A huge thank you to our wonderful families for your support, and to our amazing staff and volunteers who help make events like this possible.

Most importantly, thank you to our young performers for being brave, taking creative risks and reminding us why we love what we do.

We're already looking forward to our next production later this year!

🎭 PLAY in 4 Days! 🎭

Looking for something creative and confidence-building these school holidays?

PLAY in 4 Days is an exciting opportunity for students aged 9–12 to explore the world of devised drama – creating an entirely original performance from their own ideas!

Over four fun-filled days, students will work together to develop characters, build stories, and create a show from scratch. Along the way, they'll build confidence, strengthen teamwork skills, and learn what it's like to work in a theatre environment.

📅 Rehearsal Days: 10:00am – 3:00pm

🎭 Performance Day: 11:00am – 4:00pm

🎟 Performance: 4:00pm

👧🧒 Ages: 9–12 years

A fantastic experience for young people who love drama, storytelling, and using their imagination.

Not in this age group? We also have **PLAY in 3 Days** available for our younger performers to give drama a go too!
