It’s going to be a great day out, so if you’re looking for something to do this Friday, come on down to the Race course and enjoy a fab day out
The Riverton Racing Club has an eight race program in order for their home track on Friday.
The club has used their own funds to again ncrease the minimum stake money level to $20,000.
Southland’s leading trainer Kelvin Tyler has eight of his team entered on Friday including two debutant runners in the BRONZE TIER SPONSORS MAIDEN 1200m.
Flying Julz is a horse of interest, she is a 3yr-old filly by Vadamos from Flying Sardine. Flying Sardine won 16 races for Tyler from 2016-2021.
Ten of Flying Sardine’s wins were earned on heavy tracks. Her first foal Flying Julz is sure to racing on a heavy surface on Friday.
Flying Julz has drawn barrier one in the 13 horse field. Apprentice Jockey Amber Riddell (55.5kg) will be on board for owners Kelvin and his wife Vanessa and daughter Aimee.
Stable spokesman Michael Tyler said Flying Julz is a beautiful filly that is pretty tough “She’s like her mother and has real fighting qualities, she will get over the ground in time but for now she will probably be a jump and run sort of horse.”
Flying Sardine also has two sons by Ancient Spirit and is currently in-foal to Auguste Rodin.
In The Ghetto is a 3yr-old Ghibellines gelding from Shine Bright. Shine Bright had plenty of ability and won one of her four races when trained by Tyler before retiring from racing due to her highly strung attitude.
In The Ghetto is her first foal, he has a 2yr-old full brother named Stuck On You and has a yearling half-brother by Ancient Spirit and a weanling half-brother by Shocking. Shine Bright is currently in foal to Alflaila.
Kendra Bakker (56.5kg) will ride In The Ghetto from barrier 10.
Michael said In The Ghetto is a bit of a smaller and stronger type and can be an unpredictable character.
“He gallops up nicely but he’ll definitely benefit from the run. They actually haven’t done a hell of a lot so it will sort of be an educational run for them both on their home track” Michael said.
