So here's a bit of synchronicity. I bought a lovely old blanket box a few days ago, via our local online sales page. There were sheets of newspaper in the top tray, and in the bottom of the box. It was the done thing, years ago, lining drawers and cupboards with newspaper. And I'm very grateful to the former owner for leaving those papers in the box.
Some of the pages were really old, the earliest was dated 1959. But the real find was a piece from the Waikato Times Easter Weekend special with the caption "Easter Folk.Music Festival Turns 28". A blast from the past!! The festival was still being held at Gordonton at that stage, and there's some names mentioned that will ring a few bells. So timely, with this year's festival just days away. 🎶🎵🪕🪈🪗🎻🤩
