In the studio 42 jewellery course my students eventually ask how they can start selling some work and it seems so daunting but it doesn’t have to be.
First you have to make some work and then display that work nicely and tell some people about it.
When I first started I would make until I desperately needed some cashflow for materials and then displayed it on the kitchen table and invited friends over to buy it.
And it worked 🤩 it was perfect for then but over time I have figured out my own ways of selling that feel genuine to me and my brand.
It really is all about trying out different ways until you find your way. You might love having a stall at a market and being part of that community or you might have a friend with a shop who loves your work and all you have to do is keep stocking them, you might work in the winter and sell in the summer 🌺 you could make a song and dance 🪩 about it online and sell out in minutes. There is so many ways so Try it all until you find a formula that works for you.
The worst is just not starting and then making it such a big deal that it feels out of reach. Even worse is each time you talk about your jewellery with no way of people being able to support you and buy a piece, you are literally blocking sales.
I hear so many people using there time with potential customers complaining about how no one buys instead of telling an inspiring story about there pieces and getting a new follower who is interested in buying a piece at your next event.
This is an example of a tiny jewellery shop we have in studio 42 for our visitors ♥️ it does the job and is super affordable displays.
Don’t let the fear stop you from starting.
