Golden Pond -SOLD

This painting is layered with rich layers of impasto oil paint (Thick textured brush strokes) over firstly a bright underpainting or primary colours, then I guild the whole canvas with gold leaf. Once its dry, I lightly rub the gold with a scourer pad of which exposes a little of the underpainting. It’s on that striking underpainting and gold that I then begin my impressionist painting, layer upon layer, wet on dry it all comes together. ‘Golden Pond’, has found its home in Colorado Springs.

It’s an impressive 147 x 182cm, the piece carries a beautiful sense of depth and movement, with the gold leaf that shimmers and changes in the light across the canvas - (shown here in an Ai generated home interior to give sense of scale along with a smaller canvas being prepared ready for painting).

There’s always something new to discover close to home.

Exploring the wild places in the area gives me a step back from the studio to reconnect with the landscape that has inspired me for decades.

Changing light, dramatic peaks, forest and solitude, inspiration is endless. This is Molly my Visla and I a few years back now - she’s just turned 14.

Thirty years of exhibiting in Queenstown, and now a new chapter begins.

We’ve recently relocated from the heart of town to The Lake Gallery at our home in Mt Creighton, just a beautiful fifteen minute drive from Queenstown.

This more intimate setting offers a new way to experience my work, surrounded by the landscape, light and mountains that have inspired so much of it over the years.

Alongside the new gallery comes a new website and a renewed social presence, giving us the opportunity to share more of the artwork, the stories behind it and the creative journey along the way.

We look forward to welcoming familiar faces and new ones into this next chapter.
