The past two weeks at Mountain Club

Our Monthly AI Meet-Up brought a group together discussing real experiences and shared knowledge.

Incredible Industry led conversations on the future of sustainability in Queenstown for World Environment Day with a panel of people driving change - Thank you Nicky from NZ Nature Fund, Trent Yeo from Ziptrek Ecotours Queenstown, and Paul Kavanagh from Southern Lakes Sanctuary.

Domenic Mondillo, the owner of Mondillo Wines gave a intimate tasting, pouring some of Central Otago finest wines, before Mountain Club members Drew Knowles and Dr Simon McKenzie-Nickson opened The Augmented Human Series, helping stress management for owners and operators of businesses.

An honest, forward-looking discussion on what it takes to lead a successful brand at our Live Podcast on The Future of Fashion & Creativity in Aotearoa with host Clare Irons, Lou Heller, Hamish Acland of Mons Royale, Nat Newlands of New Lands Studio, and Christina Perriam of Perriam. Did anything unexpected happen during your visit to The Battery that perfectly summed up what being part of a global community means to you?

"During my time at The Battery in San Francisco, I met the author of a book I’d just read, then later sat next to an investor working on climate projects. Neither meeting was planned, but that's what made them so memorable. Those conversations left me feeling less like a visitor in San Francisco and more like part of a global community - that’s what's special."

As a Mountain Club Global Member, how did it feel arriving in a city on the other side of the world and instantly having a place to work, connect, or unwind?

"One of the most valuable parts of Global Membership is knowing that wherever I travel, I have a trusted place to land. We start the month with our Monthly AI Meet Up, followed by The Future of Sustainability in Queenstown Panel for World Environment Day. We’ll hear from industry leaders sharing insights on how local businesses can move beyond “sustainability” toward actively restoring ecosystems and communities.

Upcoming tasting session with Mondillo Wines brings us together around the table for great conversation and local wine. Search and Rescue Dogs Avalanche NZ: The dogs behind avalanche search and rescue return for a two-part series - an opportunity to meet the dogs and learn how they train, followed by a live avalanche search and rescue demonstration at Coronet Peak.

Mid-month brings a Live Mountain Club Podcast on the Future of Fashion & Creativity in Aotearoa, exploring the forces redefining the industry, led by Clare Irons. Then a relaxed evening of connection and conversation, hosted by NZ Global Women- the network uniting some of Aotearoa’s most influential leaders driving systemic change.

Later in the month we head Into the Backcountry for an introduction to the alpine environment with Otago Southland Rescue Helicopter Trust, Coronet Ski Patrol, and IFMGA-certified mountain guide Will Rowntree for an evening of practical education in preparation for winter, and our weekly Thursday Ski Touring restarting.
