Co-founder of AWE and violinist was featured on the Classical for Everyone podcast this week, talking about the ideas and ambitions that led to the creation of At the World’s Edge, and what she hopes people discover when they come along.

At the heart of AWE is a belief in the power of live music to create genuine connection. Chamber music is uniquely placed to do this. By being in smaller, more intimate venues, audiences are brought close to the musicians and into the performance itself. You don’t just hear the music, you experience it.

Justine summarised it beautifully: "My goal is that people leave inspired and nourished, excited and challenged, vibrant and alive".

CROSSED opens AWE 2026 at — a powerful programme moving through fracture, conflict and uncertainty towards luminous clarity.

Featuring music by Bacewicz, Bach, Michael Norris, and Beethoven, performed by an extraordinary ensemble of international and New Zealand artists, CROSSED is a programme not to be missed.

In between the two shows (4pm and 7pm) we present AWE+ In Conversation. Join Benjamin Baker, Tanja Tetzlaff and Florian Donderer for a free AWE+ conversation about their musical beginnings, the transformative role of chamber music, and what its values of deep listening, responsiveness and shared responsibility might mean beyond the concert hall.

At AWE, we believe every young person should have the chance to experience the joy of live music. They're our next generation of creatives and thinkers, and we hope to inspire them and make music fun.

Through AWE+ in schools, we'll be visiting early childhood centres, primary schools, and high schools across the Central Lakes region, sharing free performances with more than 2,000 students following the Festival.

Featuring Festival Artists, Emerging Musicians, and new music from New Zealand composers, these visits are all about inspiring creativity, curiosity, and connection through music.

Some places hold performances. Others become part of them.

Te Atamira is a space where art opens the mind and creativity is cherished. As musicians, we love performing in a gallery, surrounded by works that invite us to look closer, listen harder, and experience music in a deeper way.

This concert venue is also special because we have grown alongside one another. AWE began in 2021, while Te Atamira opened its doors to the Whakatipu community in 2022. Together we have encouraged and celebrated creativity in the Southern Lakes, connecting people to a larger story – one shaped by community, imagination, and a place that continues to inspire us.
