Woohoo! It's our 5th birthday and we are celebrating this Friday 19th June @ the Lower Moutere Hall. ππ
We believe that Dance Temple is truly a co-creation of all those who bless the dancefloor with their presence - and this is what we celebrate. We are in awe of all that you bring and contribute to our community spirit. Blessed be β€οΈ
Dance in the darkness and discover your Light
On 19 June, we gather at the threshold of a potent inner season, held between the lingering energies of recent eclipses and the deepening pull of the approaching Cancer New Moon. The sky invites introspection, emotional renewal, and a return to what truly nourishes. In the Mayan calendar, this period resonates with cycles of transformation and inner truth, a time to shed old skins and listen deeply to the wisdom within.
This is a Winter portal.
βDancing in the Dark, Finding Your Lightβ is a 5Rhythms-inspired ecstatic dance journey guided by Kamal. We begin in spacious, dreamlike soundscapes, softening the body and opening awareness. The wave builds into earthy rhythms, pulsing beats, and ecstatic release, then lifting into joyful, lyrical expression and settling into deep stillness with piano and strings. A full arc of death, rebirth, and renewal, mirroring both the cosmos and the cycles within.
Guiding this journey is Kamal, weaving layered and looping soundscapes that bridge worlds. His sets blend sacred musical traditions with field recordings, toning drones, mantra, traditional instrumentation, and global electronic rhythmsβinfused with a strong presence of drums in this offering.
A bhakti yogi and lifelong dancer, Kamal channels both the fire of Latin America and the silence of deep meditation. His work creates a space where movement becomes prayer, and sound becomes a pathway to clarity, joy, and presence.
Together, we move the wave:
flowing atmospheres β grounded rhythms β ecstatic release β joyful expression β spacious stillness.
Come dance the darkness.
Come find your light.
Align, awaken, and remember your rhythm.
