A restock of Wayne Taskers work as well!

Wayne was born in Christchurch, New Zealand. He now resides on Auckland’s North Shore. In his early years in Christchurch, Wayne trained as a teacher and taught Art. He is a self-taught ceramic artist specialising in Raku clay.
Wayne lived and worked on Waiheke Island, Auckland for 15 years, where he commercialised the Raku process for the enjoyment of tourists and formed the Clayton Mudd Raku Team Arts and Crafts. During this period Wayne lived at Rocky Bay on land covered with Mamaku. Each season the monster leaf fronds of the Ponga form a perfect koru form which has integrated itself into his raku pots.

He taonga tuku iho! Stone carved Porotaka by Matiu Bartlett (Ngāti Kahungunu ki Wairoa) tohunga whakairo! The Porotaka is such an enigmatic shape often referred to as a matau, it is not a functional hook, but this very special taonga has certainly captured all our hearts here in the Tāmaki gallery. Pieces carved with traditional tools are very rare, they take incredible skill and patience to make, on a 20 plait cord with toroa bone toggle again filled with kokowai and tarata sap, an exceptionally significant piece.
