Rawene 2.0 : WIP
Curved stone forms soften this building’s presence, while layers of planting, filtered light, and warm natural materials create a sense of retreat from the city beyond. Spaces flow seamlessly between inside and out, blurring the boundary between architecture and landscape.

As the project moves through the building consent phase, we’re reminded that it’s the countless details that bring those ideas to life. Every junction, material transition, and carefully considered line contributes to an experience that feels good, and connects to the people who will call it home.

We look forward to seeing this vision emerge from render to reality.

architecture is often experienced through the grand gestures, so when the quieter details come together well on site there is a lovely sense of benefitting the every day routine.

this outdoor shower sits on a timber rainscreen, where light, shadow, texture and privacy come together to create a moment of calm. behind the camera sits the beautiful coastline of Waipu.

Some projects stay with you long after they’re completed. Tree Villa is one of those, and we are stoked it has been included in Cape to Bluff 2, a beautiful celebration of residential architecture across Aotearoa.

A huge thank you to Simon Devitt and Andrea Stevens, whose thoughtful storytelling gives each project a deeper voice. Together, they’ve captured a snapshot of New Zealand’s architectural identity and the landscapes and lives that shape it.

Conceived as a conversation between heritage and contemporary living, Tree Villa transformed a much-loved 110-year-old Ponsonby villa into a home deeply connected to its site, its history, and the people who inhabit it. From the hidden garage concealed within the original façade to the sculptural northern extension inspired by the site’s pōhutukawa, the project was an exploration of how architecture can preserve memory while creating something entirely new.

Lovely to see Tree Villa sitting alongside so many inspiring homes from across the country. Thanks to our incredible clients, collaborators, and everyone involved in bringing this project to life. Special thanks to the current owners for welcoming us back and keeping things so s***k and span!

This project explores the space between luxury and emotion — creating homes that look beautiful and feel connected to climate, landscape, and lifestyle.

Designed as a layered sanctuary, the architecture uses curved forms, natural textures, and immersive lighting to create an experience that changes from day to night.

More than a residence — this is architecture designed to slow you down.
