Our sister fair, Sydney Contemporary, returns to Carriageworks from 3–6 September for its 10th edition, celebrating over a decade of cutting-edge ideas and world-class contemporary art.

This year, a number of Aotearoa galleries who exhibited at Aotearoa Art Fair will also have a presence in Sydney – among them 1301SW | Starkwhite, Fox Jensen/Fox Jensen McCrory, Gow Langsford, and PAULNACHE.

This semester the University of Auckland's Faculty of Arts and Education introduced Art History 329, which explores core elements of art curation, including exhibition-making and collection management. Students study private and public collections around Tāmaki Makaurau, and learn from industry professionals in order to enhance their knowledge of career paths in the arts.

Students were tasked with creating social media content to promote the 2026 Aotearoa Art Fair as part of their coursework. Combining applied and practical learning, the students created short form videos that highlight the rich network of our GLAM sectors, bringing their learning into the public eye. Course director Mikayla Journee, as well as some of the Art History 329 students, shared their thoughts.

The six paintings depict Hinenuitepō, Murirangawhenua, Mahuika, and Taranga, whose jet-black hair forms a continuous landscape across the works.
