Matariki Short short Story Celebration:

Announcing takahē magazines’ inaugural “Matariki Short Short Story Celebration”.

Join us in welcoming the new year with a selection of 7 very special, very short works of fiction.

The writers of the winning stories will receive $150, publication in the August issue, and a year’s subscription to takahē. We welcome submissions, 500 words or less, of previously unpublished work on any theme. Writers must be currently residing in Aotearoa.

Marlborough Book Festival 2021 is looking exciting.

Tickets are on sale NOW for the 2021 Marlborough Book Festival which will be held at the ASB Theatre Marlborough from Friday 9 July - Sunday 11 July.

And people stayed at home
And read books
And listened
And they rested
And did exercises
And made art and played
And learned new ways of being
And stopped and listened
More deeply
Someone meditated, someone prayed
Someone met their shadow
And people began to think differently
And people healed.
And in the absence of people who
Lived in ignorant ways
Dangerous, meaningless and heartless,
The earth also began to heal
And when the danger ended and
People found themselves
They grieved for the dead
And made new choices
And dreamed of new visions
And created new ways of living
And completely healed the earth
Just as they were healed.
