To Our Valued Flock’n Supporters,
Before we indulge in Flock’s future, we would like to express our gratitude & appreciation to all our supporters, customers, friends, whanau, current & past staff, near and afar. You all have given us something over the last four years, your kind words, your love, constructive criticism, a lending hand and advice when needed. Most of all you’ve kept our doors open & the place alive, you’ve filled flock with laughter, joy, love and helped our flock’n vision thrive. Throughout the tough times, we have survived, never asked for sympathy, but just to see your faces, smiles & enjoyment of what we have created here as a family at Flock. We ask you to keep showing us those smiles, keep being you until the last day. Our last day for dinning in at Flock Kitchen & Bar will be the 3rd of April 2022. We hope to get to see your faces before then & share some stories that we have been able to create together. Our memories & experiences we have made with you all over the last 4 years will be treasured in our hearts for the rest of our years to come. Maori Fish Hook Carving Carved from New Zealand Kauri native tree hundreds of years old sourced from the Coromandel ranges this timber has floated down the Tairua river were we live, timber has been dried and seasoned over the last 3 years then modelled and carved on a CNC Router

Just finished a new peice of 3d wall art
This is the biggest carve I have done 800mm wide x 500mm high

NZ Tui in the Pohutakawa tree thanks to photo from Paul Schrader

The Tui is carved into one piece of Kauri I found down Puketui Valley and I’m confident will never find another slab this size again

Carving has been hung on the wall in the new renovated studio

This small piece is a personal one of my beaufitul wife of many years Lisa. 🥰

I was and still am testing different types of cnc carving techniques and will only improve as I advance further into varied methods.

This was done on a piece of aged New Zealand Kauri timber.

Please note, this isn't ordinary timber from Bunnings or Mitre 10 (no offence to either ☺ ) - instead it's timber that is sought after using old traditional methods which are simply - "a good pair of strong gumboots 😉 my willingness to search for that something special when heading into the Coromandel dense native bush to find it - just for you!"

Every aspect of your piece will be unique and a complete one off art piece. I'll even tell you the story of how, I actually got to get your piece of timber for it's creation, and an estimation of how old the wood would likely be and more...

Myself in action, when I start a Coromandel Timber Creation one-off piece.

I'll be posting a page of content all about our interesting creative process. When I actually begin from the moment of idea conception, right through to the beautiful finished timber art piece.

A lot of thought and heart goes into every single creation, it's what I love doing. And I'm drawn to MANY ideas, some come to me when I'm actually walking deep into the bush to find that "special" piece of timber, haul it out of the bush in order to create that something - special 😉

This is a timber creative piece that’s a little different and may appeal to the insect enthusiast among us! I really enjoyed creating this one!

Wētāpunga is New Zealand’s giant Wētā species and the biggest of this type.

When fully grown they can even be heavier than a mouse or sparrow.

During the day they usually hide in dead foliage such as the drooping dead fronds of tree ferns, nīkau palms or cabbage trees.

This was CNC carved in a piece of Coromandel Kauri where we recycled from the river in Hikuai.

This piece of Kauri has come down in a flood seasoned or dryed over 2-3 years.

Many wētā species are now endangered so with this in mind, it’s very important we look after them.

This creative timber piece took 25 hours non-stop to create.

It measures: 600mm wide x 550mm high x 48mm thick

This is one of my latest pieces of original 3D Art. The timber has come from Pauanui, the majestic Pohutakawawa Tree which has a dark grain with hints of stunning purple. If you look a little closer, you will see it in the grain.

The Beautiful Ruru (New Zealand Morepork).

Please note: All of our Art pieces come with a "pocketed hanging system" so your art will sit flat and neat on the wall.
