Papamoa's Got Talent

Papamoa's Got Talent A showcase of the best performers from each primary school in the Pāpāmoa region. This event is the first ever primary school talent quest across Papamoa.

Each primary school will be running heats in their own school to choose their top 4 contestants. On 12 October they will all come together at Tahatai Coast school hall to battle it out in a concert Papamoa's got talent. Major local businesses have donated prizes to make this a very special evening with judges and guests. Come along and show your support for year 4-6 students.

Our Junior Judge - James Ferns!
We are thrilled to announce that James, our talented Year 13 student at Papamoa College, is the junior judge for Papamoa’s Got Talent this year!
James has dazzled audiences with his lead roles in many college productions and external performances like Kristoff in frozen, Peter Pan, and rn Les Miserables. Not only does he act, but he also plays the guitar, sings, and has been actively involved in songwriting rock quests.
James's remarkable talent has earned him a nomination for Best Supporting Male in a Youth Production for his role in Disney’s Frozen JR. He also visited America where he represent New Zealand at the Junior Theatre Festival January 31 to February 15, 2025!
What an amazing talented guy! Papamoa College couldn't be prouder of him and we can't wait to see him at our talent quest.

We’re beyond excited to announce that LAUGHTON KORA – one of Aotearoa’s most electrifying musicians – will be joining us as a judge on August 22! 🙌

From winning Smokefreerockquest at just 17, fronting the legendary band Kora with his brothers, to building a powerhouse solo career, Laughton’s talent is unmatched. He’s collaborated with the NZSO, Tama Iti, and Maisey Rika, and worked with Māori poets, weaving their words into music with the haunting beauty of taonga pūoro.

He is presently touring NZ with his new galactic-funk band Black Comet shaking stages across the motu, and has made time in his busy schedule to judge our talent in Papamoa! We feel very honoured and can't wait to show him all our talent!
