DARKPLACE ANNOUNCEMENT FROM THE VOID.
TLDR: darkplace has been gone for a while, but there will be a special return of darkplace episode this monday 7-9pm. Darkplace won't be returning weekly, but will ideally be every second Monday of the month to coincide with Bandcamp Fridays. Darkplace format may be changing in the future, read for details.
So, not that I think this show has regular listeners or anything, but some of you might have noticed that Monday nights on 99.4fm haven't been playing my usual concoction of goth and electronic doomgaze stuff, and I haven't been posting playlists. This is partly due to a music burnout after lockdown, and now adding to that is the fact that my new place of work is next to the studio. While this might seem like a convenience at first (and I'm still trying to convince myself that it is), when I'm tired after work I really don't feel like staying there another 4 hours, nevermind driving back there once I've cooked dinner and crashed at home. Darkplace isn't my only 'creative' hobby either, and so for the sake of time management, I guess it just fell off my priority list. Sorry for that all you dark fiends.
However, I still love to curate and collect lots of darkplace style music, especially all the great local stuff that's been coming out this year. The Bandcamp Fridays (where Bandcamp give 100% of profits back to the artists on the first Friday of each month), have been really good for the darkplace library, and for directly supporting those artists that make up the core of the darkplace 'sound'.
I have quite a bit of new music to share as a result, even if it is just to myself on air. So, this Monday I'll be bringing Darkplace back for the full 2 hours, 7pm-9pm. There will also be a Synthetic Children special demo ✨ Please tune in or comment requests xoxo
In the long run, I still don't think I have the energy to bring high quality Darkplace shows every week, so for the short term future I'm going to be hosting Darkplace once a month, on the second Monday of each month to coincide with the Bandcamp Fridays.
Long term, inspired by the legendary Darkplace VIP Fraser, I'm looking at transporting Darkplace to another format... A blog. I haven't figured this out much beyond thinking, this sounds fun, but hopefully this will be up and running by 2021.
If you made it this far, Darkplace loves you. See you on Monday night.
