Otane Arts & Crafts Corner 'To promote the teaching and development of various forms of arts and handicrafts or other cultural The centre was officially opened on 1st September 1970.

History

The old Otane School was opened in 1900 and for many years served the population of the area before a new building was erected across the road in the 1960's. By 1970 the old school was to be demolished but a group of far sighted residents saw an opportunity to create a centre for the development of various arts and crafts. A society was formed and the building was vested to the District C

ouncil who leased it to the society. Our Groups

It is with deep sadness that OAC Shares the passing of Mary Halstead on Friday 31st July 2026.
Mary was a very loyal and talented member of the Wool Group and Garden Group for many years and is going to be sorely missed.
Mary's funeral will take place this Thursday 6th August 1pm at CHB Funeral Services.
Mary is pictured in the centre during a wool group outing.

Well home again after two amazing days at the Quilt show. I know I said I didn't need anything but a few pieces dropped into my bag over the 2 days I was there.
The quilts well some of them were amazing and plenty of them.
There was a really big display of poppy wallhangers and articles. So amazing but just to many to photograph.

The Patchwork & Embroidery Group at Otane Arts & Craft Corner would like to thank everyone in CHB that donated to our fundraiser quilt and cushion that we made to raise money for Grayson. We were absolutely amazed with our total.
The winner of the prize was Maizey Scheele of Elsthorpe.
